The KO Varsity Girls’ Basketball team brought home the championship trophy from an invitational tournament at Greenwich Academy this past weekend.
KO took top honors in the O’Neil S. Medley Memorial Tournament by beating Trinity School of New York City in the championship game, 54-42, on Dec. 1. The Wyverns got off to a quick and commanding lead, but Trinity fought back and tied the game by halftime. Brittany Vose '13 and Taylor Brady '13 led a 10-2 scoring run at the beginning of the second half, and the team never looked back. Helena Roland '14 and Abbie Mancinelli '14 were big contributors at both ends of the floor.
In the first-round game on Friday, Nov. 30, KO beat Greenwich Academy, 47-33, with excellent defense and scoring from Madison Kalkstein ‘17 (16 points) and Jeanna Willis ‘16 (15 points).
The tournament is held to commemorate a GA varsity basketball coach who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2010.
