General Camp Information
Camp KO is a day camp for boys and girls entering grades 4-11. Weekly programs will be offered June 20-24 and July 18-August 5, except for A Cappella and Robotics, which will span two weeks due to the amount of material to be covered. Sports programs are $475 per week; Arts and Academics programs are $495 per week, and two-week programs are $990. There is a $50 Early Bird discount for full-day and $25 discount for half-day programs through March 15, 2017. A sibling discount and a KO community discount will be applied after March 15, 2017.
Camp KO will be held on the campus of Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, located just minutes from I-84 and steps from Blue Back Square. The camp day is from 8:30am-4:30pm; campers will spend 4.5 hours each day focused on the one program they have chosen, and the rest of the day will include conditioning and fitness classes, team-building exercises, healthy-eating seminars, guest speakers, lunch, snack breaks, and cool-down sessions for all campers.
To register, click on your preferred week; the available program options will then appear. Choose the ONE program you are interested in per week, and follow the prompts to complete the registration form.
Should you prefer to pay by check, please register campers by filling out and sending this form. Follow the instructions on the form for mailing and billing information. Please also complete these additional required forms, which must be complete before a camper can begin a session.
Attire and Equipment
Each camper will be provided with a Camp KO t-shirt (indicate your size on the session-registration form). Campers should wear this shirt on picture day and on the last day of camp.
Sports: Wear appropriate attire for your particular sport, and start and end the day with sneakers; for safety reasons, flipflops and sandals are not permitted. Please bring sunscreen and additional shoes, socks, and an extra shirt each day in a backpack. (Campers will be reminded to use sunscreen, but will be expected to apply it themselves.) Tennis racquets, lacrosse sticks, or other equipment should be brought to camp and taken home daily. Please make sure backpacks and other personal items are clearly labeled.
Academic and Arts participants: Wear comfortable clothing, sneakers and socks so you can participate in the daily fitness/conditioning and deep stretch classes; for safety reasons, flipflops and sandals are not permitted. Cameras, art smocks, laptops or other equipment should be brought to camp and taken home daily. Backpacks and other personal items can remain in their classroom areas while they are at lunch or on other parts of the campus.
Health and Safety
The safety of our campers and staff is of paramount importance to us; click here for more information and for medical forms that must be completed before a child can participate in Camp KO.
Camp will be held rain or shine! Please dress your child appropriately. Activities may be modified or brought indoors in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms.
Lunch and Snack
Campers will bring their own lunches and morning snacks. Snacks must be non-perishable, as they will be carried in the backpacks throughout the day. Lunches, which must be in well-labeled containers, will be refrigerated in the school cafeteria. Each camper should bring a labeled water bottle; plenty of water will be available for campers throughout the day. Camp KO will provide an afternoon snack, which will be popsicles or Italian ices; no foods containing peanuts or tree nuts will be distributed.
KO reserves the right to take photos and videos during Camp KO for publicity purposes. All campers may be included, unless parents submit a written note on or before the first day of camp declining permission for their children to be photographed or filmed.
All campers must provide their own transportation to and from camp. Drop off and pick up each day is from the new Kingswood Oxford Field House, which is most easily accessible from the Trout Brook Drive entrance of campus.
For the safety and welfare for all campers, Camp KO reserves the unrestricted right to dismiss any camper whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Camp Director, is detrimental to the best interests of the camp. There will be no refunds in this case.
