A Key Component of the KO Experience

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Kingswood Oxford has been consulting with a variety of independent schools, local conferences, and state health officials to offer the safest solutions to athletics this Fall 2020 semester.

With student health and safety at the forefront, we are continuously monitoring the directives and guidelines released from the Governor's Office, the Connecticut Department of Public Health, and local county health departments and agencies. As these guidelines change, there is the potential for Kingswood Oxford to resume athletic competitions under strict regulation.

Kingswood Oxford Athletics will be expanding their co-curricular programs for the Fall 2020 semester. In conjunction with this change, the season will run from the first day of school on September 10 until November 20, giving way to the start of Winter sports after the Thanksgiving break. With the number of added programs, we are asking students to (re) sign up for an activity before the start of school and will send a form out in the next few days for families to complete. Please follow the links at the bottom of this communication to access the plans for Middle School and Upper School co-curricular activities. Some basic rules that will apply to the Fall 2020 athletic season are below.

Spectator/Fans
In the case we are able to participate in games this Fall, Kingswood Oxford will not be allowing any spectators on campus. All games will be made available via live stream and recorded to make available at a later time.

Temperature Checks
All coaches will be temperature checked upon arrival to campus and required to fill out the Ascend app questionnaire. In the case that there is competition, both teams and officials will be temperature checked prior to the start of the competition.

Face Coverings
Coaches must wear face coverings anytime they are within 12 feet of anyone else. When the team is coming together for any instruction, all students must be wearing a face covering.

Hydration
Hands-free water coolers will be made available at all practice locations. Students are required to bring their own water bottle to every practice.

Locker Rooms
Locker rooms will be closed until further notice.

Athletic Training
Athletic Trainers will be available to do the majority of their work in the fields via mobile training carts for every game and practice.

We thank you for your continued support and flexibility as we work to provide the best and safest experience for our student-athletes and community.
