    Skills, Drills & Scrimmage sessions

Open to students entering grades 5-9. Minimum enrollment 12, maximum enrollment 30.

Cost: $475. Early Bird Discount: $425 until Feb. 15

Players of all skill levels will benefit from the in-depth instruction and review of field hockey fundamentals through a wide variety of skill and drill sessions, competitive play, and, of course, fun games. On KO's beautiful artificial turf, players will be challenged as they learn new skills and perfect old ones related to stick work and passing. Each stroke will be broken down for maximum development: various hits, push, flick, and aerials. We will also focus on optimal offensive and defensive positioning, as well as the transition game. Players will also practice ideal timing of dodges and pulls in various game-like scenarios.

Each day will feature two instructional sessions so players can review different skills in a smaller game setting. In the afternoon, these tactics will be transferred into larger competitive play. Afternoon strategy will focus on circle play, the transition game, and communication on the field. We will also emphasize whole body fitness -- flexibility, footwork, and core strengthening -- which makes better players. We will add in the fun with strategic games throughout the week. Campers will leave with new techniques and skills, a fresher understanding of the game, and a strategy for how to bring their game to the next level.
