Basketball – Girls MS B vs. Ethel Walker School – Away
In our second match of the season, the girls played with heart and determination against a much larger and more experienced Ethel Walker basketball team. While the score was not what we wanted, the girl’s worked together to play hard denial man-to-man defense and a strong full-court press. The girls shut the strong Ethel Walker team down and held them to 0 points for the 2nd quarter; an impressive adjustment! Led by Mackenzie Cahill ‘29 and Vivian Regan (captain) ‘29 at the point, our team moved the ball well around the court. Our guards did a solid job of penetrating the paint to get the ball to our forwards, Eliana Gauvin ‘29 and Aniajah Sanchez ‘28 as they powered through much defense to get their shots off. Our three baskets were scored by Charlotte Neeham ‘29, Sydney St. Clair ‘29, and Giselle Brighthaupt ‘29; all with excellent outside shots. Coach Phillips and I are so proud of the growth of our team as they seamlessly moved from man to zone defense and adjusted to the play of Ethel Walker’s larger, stronger girls. We look forward to Hamden Hall next week, and we will be ready with a stronger offense, solid boxing out, and good shooting.
