Strong play from Keifer Jaffee ‘21 has helped the Kingswood Oxford varsity ice hockey team post a pair of recent victories and he is the Wyvern of the Week.
A winger on the first line this season, Jaffee has seen his role and impact on the team increase and he has handled it well.
“Keifer has grown both physically and in skill over the last year,” Kingswood Oxford coach John Hissick said. “He is a solid first line player and is willing to do the hard work on the forecheck and powerplay.”
Despite being a sophomore, Jaffee has a good amount of experience and has looked to be a positive role model for younger members of the team.
“I have played on the team since 8th grade and my role has changed a lot and so has the team,” Jaffee said. “In my first season my role was to pass the puck on the first line and last year I played center on second line and had my own line that I lead. This year although I’m still an underclassman, me and the others that have been playing since 8th grade have leadership towards the kid that this is their first year on the team.”
In the offseason Jaffee plays for the CT Chiefs and he feels his strengths are his puck movement and ability to play hard every minute he is on the ice. He has played hockey for 11 years and says that he loves the pace and friendships I have created on and off the ice.”
With the Wyverns sitting at 6-4-1 entering the home stretch of the season, Jaffee is hoping the team can stay on a roll.
“We have had a strong season and very good camaraderie and we have done very well in the offensive zone, creating many scoring chances,” Jaffee said. “My goal for the rest of the season is to help my team in any way so we can win the league.”
