The Founders League announced baseball all-star teams and recognized four Wyverns for their accomplishments: Evan Moore ’19 was selected first-team and Pitcher of the Year, Sam Smith ’21 was selected second-team, Nick Cannata ’20 and Jack Marshall ’20 were honorable mention selections.
Smith played third base and catcher and was selected as a utility player. He had a .407 batting average with three home runs and 15 RBIs. Marshall played shortstop and had a .385 batting average with one home run and 13 RBIs. The League selected Cannata as a pitcher. He struck out 35 batters in 24 innings, with a 2.58 ERA, batted .367, and played second and third base.
Smith and Marshall led the KO offense all season long, with the pair finishing first and second on the team in hits, doubles, triples, home runs, runs scored, and RBIs. Moore and Cannata led a strong pitching staff, both pitching in seven games. This was Moore’s third selection to the all-league first team. After two undergrad Pitcher of the Year awards, he capped off his senior season with the Founders League Pitcher of the Year Award. Moore is headed to Boston College where he was recruited to play baseball. Cannata was a second-team selection last year.
