Evan Moore ‘19 heading to play Division I Baseball at Boston College

John Nestor
Evan Moore '19 made it official on Thursday as he announced he is off to Boston College next fall to play baseball for the Eagles.

Evan was recruited by a number of Division I programs including UCONN, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Virginia Tech as well as Boston College. When the time came to make a decision, Evan felt most comfortable continuing his career as an Eagle because of the combination of athletics, academics and a good feeling about the coaching staff.

"I chose BC because it was the best of both worlds, academically and athletically. Being able to play in the ACC is a great opportunity, and the academics as well are highly regarded," Evan said. "What it came down to for my family and me were the coaches; I valued Coach Gambino and Coach Trezza's approach and philosophy about competing and their transparency with me during the recruiting process."

Evan earned the Founders League Pitcher of the Year Award in both his sophomore and junior seasons and is ranked the number one pitcher in CT for the class of 2019 by PBR and Perfect Game. Evan has also been a varsity starter for the Wyverns since his freshman year.

"Evan is a power pitcher, last year striking out 65 in 45 innings with a 1.07 ERA," Kingswood Oxford coach Steve Cannata said. "He very focused and driven to get the most out of his talent. He has improved every year and I expect he will be successful at the next level."

As Evan finishes up his final year as a Wyvern, he feels the experience will allow him to spread his wings as an Eagle.

"The academics at KO are rigorous, preparing me for my future at BC. KO has also taught me how to advocate for myself. Steve Cannata has helped me on and off the field and has been a great coach, always allocating his resources and time in order to better the team."
