Strength & Conditioning

Sports Conditioning

This co-curricular activity is for Upper School students who would like to optimally prepare for interscholastic sports. The student will enhance their athletic performance through rigorous workouts involving drills and exercises for strength, speed, quickness, agility, cardiovascular endurance, power, flexibility, and mobility. Students will follow detailed daily workouts up to four times a week prepared by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The main goals of the Sports Conditioning Program are to:

  • Minimize injury risk during the training process.
  • Reduce the rate of sports performance related injuries.
  • Enhance athletic performance
  • Educate our Athletes and teach life-long habits
  • Create an atmosphere in which our athletes train hard and recover to attain success

In-Season Teams
Teams will have scheduled time in the Fitness Center twice a week to learn and work on in-season maintenance strength program.  The main goals of in-season strength program are to:

  • Minimize risk of injury
  • Maintain strength throughout the season (most athletes lose strength during a season, which directly impacts performance as well as increases chance of injury)
  • Help create a culture and commitment to strength training.

Personal Fitness Program
This co-curricular activity is for Upper School students who want to participate in a personalized fitness program on campus. Students will be led through a cardiovascular and strength training program four times a week by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The main goals of the Personal Fitness Program are to:

  • Minimize injury risk during the training process.
  • Introduce the student to physical fitness practices, teaching lifelong habits
  • Improve overall health and fitness.

Nutrition Guidance
Provide opportunities to educate students on the benefits of nutritional habits.

  • Guest speakers
  • Wyvern Fit! -- biweekly newsletter emailed to the entire KO community
  • Discussions during Personal Learning Blocks
  • "VQV" classes for Form 3 students
  • Team meetings
