No other art form is as uniquely American that runs the spectrum from transcendent, understated, smooth, hot, cool, and joyous. Kingswood Oxford will hold its annual Jazzappella Concert on November 16 at 6:30 PM in the school's Black Box Theater. Featuring the Upper School Jazz Combo, Jazz Big Band, Middle School Jazz Band, Oxfordians and Crimson 7, this showcase delivers a vibrant mix of standards and improvisation.
The concert will feature KO alum and drummer, David Bush '85. Bush remarkably straddles two worlds of music and finance. Behind the kit, Bush has performed and/or recorded with a host of notable, wide ranging talent including Grammy-winning songwriter Robert Lee Castleman, Grammy-nominated New Grass artist Tony Trischka, avant garde composer LaMonte Young, Dave Matthews Band bassist, Stefan Lessard and SNL Band guitarist and pop producer, Dr. Luke. His original music and drumming were showcased worldwide in TV shows, radio, and independent films. On the flip side of his musical life, Bush's quantitative stock strategy won first place in BattleFin quant finance tournament and the Shark Tank strategy competition held by the National Association of Active Investment Managers.
The Black Box's intimate setting and cabaret seating is the ideal venue to watch young and mature talent. There is no admission charge. Table seating is limited.
