A sharpshooting guard and senior leader for the Kingswood Oxford varsity boys basketball team, Nick Bray ’19 is the Wyvern of the Week.
Bray was named to the 2019 All-KIT Team and was a major factor in the Wyverns’ fast start to the season. Kingswood Oxford started the season 5-0 with wins over two Class A teams, two Class B schools, and a perennial powerhouse Class C school.
“Nick is a 5-year starter who has exploded with scoring early this season and is an all conference caliber defender,” Kingswood Oxford coach Brad Seaman said.
Nick has been playing organized basketball since he was in the 3rd grade and have been playing basketball at KO since the 8th grade. He’s seen the program return to a high level during his time as a Wyvern and now Bray is trying to finish his career by coming out of his shell so to speak.
“This year as a senior, coach asked me to take on more of a leadership role and be more of a scorer,” Bray said. “Both of these things have taken some work as I’m quiet in nature and I have tended to be passive in the past.”
Bray hopes to play college basketball and may pursue a post grad year to help him prepare for the next level. In the meantime he is focused on helping the Wyverns snap their recent skid and get back to the postseason.
“I want to make the playoffs and win a game or two at least in New England’s this year,” Bray said. “That’s the only goal I have for the team.”
