How do you help a student reach their potential? It looks different for every student. You need to know them and how they operate and walk with them while they are reaching for their goals.
KO sets a high bar for the kids. There are many smart, kind, brilliant, and outstanding students. That brings everyone up, right? It's really special.Ā
I've learned that discomfort is part of growth.
The bottom line is about caring for the students that we teach and wanting to know who they are. We see how we can challenge them and work together to make that happen.
Helping students reach their potential is about showing them that it's okay to make mistakes and stumble and that learning can be hard. But, it's also showing them that you have faith in them, believe in them, and not let them fail.
KO's community is supportive and collaborative. When I applied for Outward Bound, my friends didn't question me and say, āThatās not like you.ā They said, āGo for it! You know you can do it!ā
KO has made me want big things for myself.
The challenging "We the People" IMPACT course gave me the tools to approach complex issues with a sense of curiosity and open-mindedness, while also encouraging me to develop and stand firm in my own beliefs.
Something that I definitely enjoy about KO is the small classroom sizes. I love how you can have more student interactions as well as more meaningful conversations with the teachers.
