Baseball – Boys Varsity vs Avon Old Farms School – Home
Varsity Baseball
Kingswood Oxford Varsity Baseball lost 4-1 to Avon Old Farms on Wednesday afternoon.
Wyverns starting pitcher, Evan Moore ‘19, had another strong outing on the mound despite taking the loss. Moore pitched 6 innings, gave up 2 runs, on 5 hits while striking out 9 Winged Beavers.
The Beavers took a 2-0 lead early, pushing runs across in the both the first, and second innings. That would be all that Avon would need, as the Beavers pitchers kept the Wyverns bats quiet for most of the day. The score stayed at 2-0 until the sixth inning when AOF plated another run, and the Wyverns responded in their half of the inning with a run of their own to make the score 3-1. The Beavers added another in the top of the seventh to finish the scoring.
Sophomore, Sam Smith ‘21, lead the Wyverns offense with 2 hits. Wes Pierce ‘20, came into relief in the seventh inning and pitched well, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, and struck out 2.
