Basketball – Boys JV vs Hamden Hall Country Day School – Home

Win 82-67

In their first showdown of the New Year, the Wyverns took down Hamden Hall with a commanding victory. In the first 8 minutes of play, KO took a ten, then fifteen, then twenty point lead from which Hornet’s struggled to recover. Freshman Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 put up 24 points of the Wyverns’ 82, scoring the most three pointers of any player on the court. Lockdown defensive positioning by Tyler Bergquist ’27 and Sebastian Cotte ’27 kept the Hornets on their heels during the first half, which ended at 44-17. With nearly 30 points to take back, Hamden Hall went on a run and scored exactly 50 points during the second half; nevertheless, with standout performances by co-captains Jace Oneglia ’25 and Ben LaFreniere ’25 the team was able to recover from the Hornet’s advances and swiftly take charge at the end of the second half. The Wyverns have a Sunday of rest before taking to the court once again on Monday at 4:45pm against the Taft School. Go KO!
