JV Boys Basketball
What an amazing win over Loomis this past Wednesday as the Pelicans went down to the Wyverns 60-54. The two teams were in lockstep during the first half, keeping the score, neck and neck as freshman, Xavier Hernandez-Newton ‘27, and Tyler Bergquist ‘27 each put up a dozen points. As the first half came to close, Loomis adjusted their defensive positioning and paid for it: the Wyverns briefly went up by 11 and at the half, the score was 35 to 28. John Sokale ‘27 had an outstanding run on the court with a quick swish from the 3-point line, a number of solid rebounds, and a spirit that kept morale high among his peers. The second half started with a flurry of fouls, both sides couldn’t seem to contain hunger for victory. With exactly 9 minutes on the clock, both teams were fast approaching the bonus and the score was 50-36 with KO in the lead. Loomis fought back, and six minutes later the score was 51-45. Patience, patience, patience. The last minutes of play were the longest many have seen in their time playing basketball, and with foul after foul after foul our shooters brought home the win at 60-54. An outstanding game to put us ahead as we move towards our matchup against Kent on Saturday, go KO!
