Cross Country – Boys Varsity vs Canterbury School – Away

Varsity Boys Cross Country

The KO boys varsity cross country team competed in the 52nd Canterbury invitational and did very well, finishing second with a score of 66 points. There were 14 scoring teams in the division II race, which included NEPSTA (New England Prep School Track and Field Association) teams from designated as division III and IV schools. KO is a division III school. With all five scoring runners in the top 25 spots, out of a total of 95 runners, this was the best result for the boys team in the last decade. Two runners earned trophies for finishing in the top 10. These were 6th former and captain Leo Ladewig, who finished 4th overall and 6th former Arthur Tittman finishing 10th. Two other captains, 6th formers Dorian Ciscel and Alex Gumkowski finished with personal best times in 15th and 23rd place. Newcomer to the team, 5th former Robin Benz, finished 14th in his debut race for the Wyverns. Also, 5th formers Matthew Habeeb and Hayden Liddy displaced many scoring runners from other teams while finishing in the top 50 in places 42nd and 43rd respectively. These two runners are adept at running together and feeding off of each others energy. KO will compete next at the Marianapolis Invitational this Wednesday, the 24th of September and then engage with many other teams at the O’Connell Invitational held at Cheshire Academy the following Saturday.
