MS Field Hockey V WHFH

The KO Middle School Field Hockey team opened their turf season Saturday morning with an exciting game against West Hartford Youth Field Hockey’s 8th grade team.

The game was lively from the first whistle with much action on offense and defense.  WHYFH found the back of the cage first, with a strong flick from the top of the circle high to the back corner of the net to go up 1-0.  Our determined Wyverns did not let down.  With continued pressure, a strong transition game led by our midfield and smart offensive positioning, Taryn Roth ’22 found Alyssa Pavano ’22 on the post for a beautiful goal to tie the game at the end of the first half.  Play continued to be even and aggressive into the second half.  Caroline Greco found a fast break to the left wing side well into the second half.  She took a strong shot from the far left side, and followed her shot to get the rebound into the cage for the Wyverns to go up 2-1.  The remainder of the game put the Wyverns on defense with a continued push to goal.  Our defense held strong and confident and cleared the ball out to the last second.  Charlotte Mandell ’22 had several key saves in goal to keep the Wyverns strong.  Caroline Boardman ’22 also played well defensively, forcing the ball to the sides, while Nora Eckert ’22 and Katharine Doar ’22  played a strong transition game at midfield.
