Field Hockey - Girls Varsity vs Rye Country Day School - Away - Kingswood Oxford

Field Hockey – Girls Varsity vs Rye Country Day School – Away

Varsity Field Hockey

KO lost their season opener to Rye Country Day 3-1.

Battling the extreme heat both teams stopped every 10 minutes to take a water break. Kingswood Oxford played hard but were exhausted. This years team is full of talent. Cici Chagnon (2021) scored a beautiful goal in the second half of the game off of a breakaway.  Chagnin broke through three players and went right to the goal. A few new players stood out during the game. Alyssa Pavano (2022) played midfield and worked hard and had a few breakaways that gave KO chances to score. Ari Lang (2022) was another new addition to the Wyverns line up that showed great skill and moved the ball down the field. The defense was strong and worked hard to attack any chance they got. Keegan McMahon (2021) led the defense and controlled the few hits while Margo Dowgiewicz (2021), Hannah Shames (2020), and Camy Forslund (2021) played intense and worked hard to keep the ball out of KO’s circle. The Wyvern’s goalie, Caitlin Budzik (2021) had over 20 saves, dove after balls, and did a great job keeping the score at 3-1.  Captain Mia Seymour (2019) took charge of the field and got the ball where it needed to be. Mia has great skill for setting her teammates up to receive great passes. She always knows where to place the ball so her teammates can easily grab it and go. Tori Swanson (2021) out hustled Rye the entire game. She was a force to be reckoned with. Tori wears many hats on the field from playing offense, defense, and flying on penalty corners. Tori’s speed allows us to take advantage of our breakaways. Other standouts were Alex D’Addabbo (2020), Izzy Burke (2021), Izzy Rome (2021), Niki Taylor (2021), and Abby McLaughlin (2022).
