Football – Boys Varsity vs Berkshire School – Home

Win 21-7

The Kingswood Oxford Wyverns hosted the Berkshire School on a rainy day at Hoffman Turf Field. It was an inauspicious start to the game for the Wyverns. Offense started with the ball going backwards and having to punt. Berkshire then broke a tackle on their 3rd offensive play and scored on a 66 yard TD catch and run to go up 7-0 early.  KO showed great resilience matching the score with a great drive and a 4 yard TD catch by DJ Biggins ’26 in the first quarter. From their both defenses were strong all half. It was up until the last minute of play that Stephen Bailey ’25 hit Rhandyn Bair ’24, in the Endzone for a 3 yard TD score with seconds to play in the half. This play gave KO the lead 14-7 going into halftime.  The KO defense was tough the rest of the game not allowing another point. Led by keys plays such as a blocked a field goal  by Justin Morle ’26, an interception by Evan Tyler ’25 and a a forced fumble and recovery by Chief Ebana ’24, it was a tremendous team defensive effort.  However, it was the offense that put the game away, late in the 4th quarter.  In the torrential rain, with the score still 14-7, Nathan Bowes ’24 hit Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 in the corner of the Endzone for a 13 yard TD pass to go up 21-7 and finish the game. It was an excellent team effort overall. Biggins ’26  lead all receivers with 5 receptions for 88 yards and 1 TD. Defensively Ebana ’24 was special, amassing 11 tackles, 2 TFL, 3 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. The Wyverns now winners of 2 straight will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday when they travel to New Milford, CT to take on the Canterbury School for a 4:30 pm Kickoff
