Football – Boys Varsity vs Greenwich Country Day School – Home
Varsity Football
It was a perfect fall sunny day as the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns hosted the Greenwich Country Day School Tigers for the first home contest of the 2025 season. After a defensive 3 and out, Greenwich forced the first turnover of the game. Starting in KO territory they utilized the double wing formation to run the ball consistently, scoring first. Ernesto Ballesteros ’28 then blocked the PAT to make the game 6-0. This was the 2nd straight game Ballesteros ’28 has blocked a PAT. From there it was all Wyverns. After a 33 yard Field Goal by Jordan Cipriano ’26 to make the game 6-3, the defense settled in forcing 4 INTs highlighted by Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 fighting for a ball and ripping it away from an opponent and Cameron Thomas ’26 who jumped a screen pass. The Offense heated up equally, scoring on a beautiful 30 yard TD strike from Justin Ocasio ’27 to DJ Biggins ’26. Halftime leading 17-6 , the Wyvern run game shone yet again, led by Justin Morle ’26 carrying the ball 21 times for 159 yards and 2 TDs. The offensive line of Ballesteros ‘ 28, Nick Chomko ’26, Teddy Ristaino ’28, Donovan Lampkin ’26 and Lex Green ’26, were excellent all day in pass pro and opening up running lanes. Overall it proved too much for the Tigers, two more scores gave KO the lead 31-6 late in the fourth. The Defense was excellent, allowing less than 200 yard of total offense, while the offense was able to run the ball for over 200 yards for back to back games to start the year. The Wyverns now 2-0 on the early season will hit the road for a stiff test vs the ISL powerhouse Middlesex School, on Saturday September 27th 3:00 pm Kickoff.
