Football – Boys Varsity vs Middlesex School – Away

Varsity Football

The Kingswood Oxford Football traveled up to Concord, MA to take on the Middlesex School Zebras on a warm, humid fall afternoon. The Wyverns started hot taking the opening possession down the field, culminating in a 36 yard TD strike to Michael Waters JR ’27.  Defense was unable to stop a fake punt and the Zebras used that momentum to drive the field to even up the score 7-7 after 1 quarter. The Wyverns passing attack proved strong throughout the day, highlighted by a great leaping TD catch by Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 and perfect throw by Justin Ocasio ’27 for a 34 yard TD score. The Defense settled in not allowing another TD score the rest of the game. In the 2nd quarter the defensive play of the first half came when Ernesto Ballesteros ’28 drilled the QB perfectly and popped the ball high in the air. Travis Parsons ’26 then tracked the ball and made a great INT catch, which propelled momentum for KO. The following drive Justin Morle ’26 punched in a 4 yard screen pass with seconds to go to take the lead 21-7 to halftime. Great blocking by DJ Biggins ’26 helped trigger that TD score.  After half and a Zebra Field Goal, the run game started to pick up. Morle ’26 scoring from 4 yards out, refusing to be tackled by multiple defenders, pushed the lead to 27-10.  Late in the 4th the play that finished the game came when Cameron Thomas ’26 jumped a comeback route and intercepted the ball and returned it for the final score of the game. The Wyverns now 3-0 on the young season will face their stiffest test to date when they welcome the Berkshire School on October 4th 3:30 pm Kickoff.
