Hewett Day vs Berkshire School – Home

Varsity Football

The Varsity Football team defeated then #5 ranked Berkshire School 28-7 on Hewett Day.

The defense had an incredible all-around game, holding the formidable Berkshire run game in check all day. Josh Leshem ’19 had the best game of his career to date, sacking the quarterback three times and recording a number of tackles in the backfield. Sam Smith ’21 and Winston Ware ’20 did a great job clogging up the middle of the field, with the help of Steve Howard ’19 and Ethan Miner ’19. Coltrane Joseph ’19 and Broox Bolden ’19 were impressive in coverage throughout the game, halting Berkshire’s late pass attempts to get back in the game. On offense, Justin Edwards ’21 carried the lion’s share of the workload for the day, rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Kyren Petteway ’19 applied the dagger with a 27-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that made it a three-score game. Ware added a touchdown run in the first quarter to go along with his great defensive day. Jeff Davis ’21 help put the finishing touches on the win with an incredible catch to keep the Wyvern’s final touchdown drive going on fourth and eight.
