JV Girls’ Soccer vs Kent School – Home

JV Girls Soccer

The JV Girls Soccer team continued their shutout streak with a 6-0 win over Kent in their first home game.

Emma St. Clair ‘25 found the net early in the first half scoring an impressive goal off an assist by Maya Gerrits ‘25. Shortly after, Emma St. Clair ‘25 rebounded the ball in the net for a would-be second goal but it was unfortunately called back. Maya Gerrits ‘25 quickly made up for it with one of her power kicks that soared the ball into the top of the net out of the goalie’s reach.

With only two goals in the first half, the Wyverns were struggling to find their speed and skill. Halftime found them redirected on elevating their play against an overly aggressive team.

The Wyverns came alive in the second half with Hannah Malkin ‘24 scoring off a strong and determined shot. After moving the ball up the field on the left, Hannah Malkin crossed the ball over the box and found Samaria Gonzales ‘26 open on the right who beautifully one touched the ball past the goalie. As a forward, Bella Deurloo ‘25 scored off a kick from outside the box that found the back post and scoring her second goal, Maya Gerrits ‘25 closed the game 6-0.

Impressive speed by Jolie Fisher ‘23 and Pauline Golder ‘24 helped make crucial plays as did the decisive skill of Yzzy Albert ‘25.

Once again, our defensive line held off all advances and left Kent without any shots on our goal. Abby Craig ‘25, Pauline Golder ‘24, Maddie Hemmerich ‘26, Bella Deurloo ‘25 and Alex Doering ‘26 all solidly stopped attacks throughout the entirety of the game, but especially so against Sam Almeida who, tho injured, valiantly took the goal for second half.

The Wyverns are excited for the Hewett Day match against Pomfret and our second home game! GO Wyverns!!
