Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Hotchkiss School – Away
Varsity Boys Soccer
KO traveled to Hotchkiss to officially start their season, and faced a very strong Hotchkiss team filled with international players and talent from all over the U.S.
Playing on turf, Hotchkiss moved the ball quickly, and after some early exchanges, they were able to find the back of the net on two occasions. KO continued to work hard trying to stop the opposition from advancing, but after excellent play from Ghana native, Bless Obey, Hotchkiss was able to find two more goals to make it 4-0 at the half.
Although the scoreline was tough on KO, the Wyverns never gave up or stopped working. Consequently, the starting defense and midfield for KO showed excellent discipline and determination, and kept the opposition from adding to the scoreline. In fact, it was KO, during the first 30 minutes of the second half, who came closest to scoring when Isaiah Shobola got behind the Hotchkiss defense and nearly snuck the ball inside the near post.
With 15 minutes remaining in the game, KO utilized the situation as an opportunity for everyone to get game time, and each and every player continued the same hard working mentality. Unfortunately, the Hotchkiss strong talent was able to add to the scoreline during the final minutes of the game.
Despite the scoreline, goalkeepers Priyam Chokshi and Daniel Rivera had some excellent moments, and team captains Pratt Blair and Brandon Tavares worked extremely hard; keeping the boys focused and disciplined. Notably, KO also had three starting Freshman (Jake Schwartz, Jooyeol Baek, and Isaiah Shobola) who gained some valuable experience from this tough opening season game.
