Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Westminster School – Away

Boys Varsity Soccer

Our matchup against Westminster was a challenging contest on a very hot day, ending in a 7–1 loss, but it was another opportunity for the team to show resilience and determination in tough circumstances.

Westminster started strong, scoring two incredible goals from their #5 and #6 in the first half, along with a handball penalty kick that put them up 3–0 by halftime. Despite the early deficit, our team continued to fight hard, staying organized and looking for opportunities to counterattack.

Unfortunately, the start of the second half brought another challenge. Our captain and center back received his second yellow card, putting Kingswood at a disadvantage and allowing Westminster to capitalize and extend their lead. Despite this setback, our players continued to battle tirelessly, demonstrating grit and commitment until the final whistle.

Freshmen Jake Schwartz and Joe Baek were standout performers in the midfield, providing energy, composure, and consistent pressure throughout the match. Their play helped create opportunities and kept Kingswood competitive in key moments. A highlight for the team came in the 70th minute when senior captain Brandon Tavares stepped up to convert a penalty, giving Kingswood its lone goal of the match — a moment that reflected leadership and the fighting spirit within our squad.

While the result wasn’t what we wanted, the effort and resilience displayed by our players, particularly our younger contributors in midfield, are encouraging. We’ll take these lessons forward as we continue to grow and develop throughout the season.
