Soccer – Girls JV vs Pomfret School – Away

Today’s result proves that the final score can be misleading in soccer. We dominated possession and put numerous shots on target. The game was scoreless until early in the second half when the referee missed a blatant off-sides that gifted Pomfret a goal. Undeterred, the girls doubled their effort and came close to equalizing several times, yet the Pomfret goalie made some brilliant saves. Credit to our backline of Golder, Gallop and Heafey – De Angelis for neutralizing Pomfret’s speedy forwards and allowing the midfield to join our forwards in attack. Emma St. Clair and Bella Duerloo were a formidable pair on the right flank and they both gave dangerous crosses that should have put in the back of the net. Ballon d’Or honors go to Margaret Miller for her tireless work in a new role as a holding midfielder.
