Varsity Girls Soccer

KO bounced back from a tough loss on Saturday with a dominating 3-0 win against Canterbury. KO outshot Canterbury 23-3, with GK Lizzie Raccio only needing to make 2 saves. Captain Loren Roca opened up the scoring in the first half as she struck a perfect direct kick from 22 yards away that dropped in over the GK outstretched hands. KO continued to maintain possession throughout the half with forwards Maliyah Douglas and Serena Zhou pressuring the defenders at will. Naomi Diffenderfer scored KO’s second goal off a beautiful pass from fellow middle schooler Eliana Beakal. Canterbury mounted an attack at the beginning of the second half but defenders Taylor Caldwell, Arianna Salek, Gianna Guerrera, Dalila Malz, and Giuliana Fuzzard thwarted any serious attack. The only close chance for Canterbury was eliminated by Giuliana as she cleared the ball off the line prior to going in. Naomi scored her second goal of the game from the flank after a sensational pass from Mackenzie Cahill. Nadia Silmon and Naya DeMelo helped control the midfield. KO will battle St, Charles Academy on Saturday with hope of evening their record to 3-3.
