Soccer – Girls Varsity vs Greenwich Country Day School – Home
Win 2-1
The varsity girls soccer team took on the tigers of Greenwich country day at home and our wyverns came out on top with a 2-1 win. The game was close throughout as both teams played hard and fought to control possession of the ball. The tigers struck first with a goal off a corner but the wyverns came back with their own goal off of a great forward pass that saw the GCDS goalie slip and our players take advantage to put the ball away. The score was 1-1 at the half. The second half saw the wyverns putting more pressure on the tigers defense and coming close to scoring on multiple occasions, while our back four kept the tigers out of our defensive end. Our midfield also worked hard to keep the ball in our offensive half and ultimately that paid off as we scored off a strong shot at the goal that rolled along the goal line until we put it into the back of the net. That just left three minutes for the wyverns to keep the tigers at bay which we did. A great effort from both teams.
