Varsity Girls Soccer

The KO girls traveled to Rhode Island to face Mount St. Charles, a team that has been slowly improving as the season has progressed. However, KO was ready and eager to get a win to even their reason’s record at 3-3. KO started the scoring at the 10 minute mark when Loren Roca won the ball in the midfield and found Nadia Silmon streaking toward the goal. Nadia put the ball in the far corner for her 2nd goal of the year. KO had other chances in the first half but could not finish their chances. GK Lizzie Raccio was able to turn away Mount St. Charles only scoring chance with ease. The halftime score was 1-0. In the second half, KO came out with a lot of energy controlling the ball from the referee’s whistle. Four minutes in, Olivia Adamowicz was able to beat her player down the right flank and cross the ball perfectly to Serena Zhou who was able to volley it in for a spectacular goal. Naya DeMelo, Eliana Beakal, Loren Roca and, Mackenzie Cahill were able to control the midfield, intercepting passes and initiating the attacks–Mount St. Charles had no answers for those players. KO added 2 more goals. Brianna Gerster found Sydney St. Clair at the back post for the third goal, and Loren Roca put a through ball into Lauren Kocay who was able to finish it past the GK. The final score was 4-0. KO’s defense was impenetrable and was led by Giuliana Fuzzard, Gianna Guerrera, and Taylor Caldwell who played the entirety of the game. Dalila Walz and Ari Salek also contributed on defense.KO now has 2 consecutive shutouts. KO’s next game will be at Loomis Chaffee on Tuesday. Loomis is a perennial top team in WWNEPSSA, which will be a great test for this young KO team.
