Girls Varsity Soccer

The KO girls soccer season kicked off against Wilbraham and Monson on Tuesday. Captains Maliyah Douglas, Loren Roca, and Taylor Caldwell made sure the team was focused and ready for the start of the season. KO dominated this game from the beginning straight through the final whistle, winning 7-1. Eighth grader Naomi Diffenderfer started the scoring in the 19th minute off a pass from freshman Serena Zhou. Sophomore Nadia Silmon followed with goal off a long diagonal pass from fellow sophomore Naya DeMelo in the 21st minute.Then in a span of 90 seconds late in the first half, KO scored 3 goals–freshman Brianna Gerster, freshman Sydney St. Clair, and again Diffenderfer were the scorers. DeMelo and freshman Lauren Kocay completed the scoring in the second half. Maliyah Douglas and Dalila Malz also got assists. Defenders Giuliana Fuzzard, Taylor Caldwell, Nadia Silmon and Giana Guerrera were excellent in the back. Freshman goalkeeper Lizzie Raccio only had to make two saves but they were both highlight reel saves. Freshman Mackenzie Cahill and Loren Roca were able to control the midfield allowing KO to possess the ball most of the game and Olivia Adamowicz was able to outwork the opposing players constantly winning balls often and allowing the team to go on the attack. KO plays at St. Luke’s on Saturday afternoon with the hope of securing another win.
