Softball – Girls Varsity vs Williston Northampton School – Away
Varsity Softball
We had some challenges scoring in this game despite some key hits and plays that put us in the position to score.
In the batter’s box, Mackenzie Caruso ’22 started us off with a bloop single to left center and used clever base running to put herself in position to score. Ava Radmanovich ’21 went 2 for 2 for the day with a nice line drive single to right in the 3rd inning, and a grounder up the middle that she beat to 1st base in the 5th. Kaylee Diaz ’19 added one to the highlight reel with a cleanly sliced line drive single to left field in the 4th.
On defense, the Wyverns had to deal with some strong hitting from our opponent. Despite that challenge, we started off the game with an incredible throw from Lexi Vail ’22 at the plate to catch a runner red handed stealing 2nd base. In the second inning, standing just in front of the fence, Kaylee Diaz used effective positioning to rob a grand slam in center field and keep us in the game. After a difficult grounder that hit her leg in the 3rd, Kyra Dunnirvine ’23 showed her fortitude by quickly moved on to the next batter and striking her out.
