KO gets hard fought win over Ethel Walker.
After going down 2-0 in the first two games, Ananya Alleyne ‘19 proved her incredible mental toughness as she made a remarkable comeback, winning the next two games, and battling fiercely until the very end. Sydney Smith ‘21 brought the fire, winning her match 3-0 and continuing her winning streak, bringing her match record to 4-0, having yet to give up even a single game all season, putting her at an impressive game record of 9-0. Cami Berckermeyer ‘19 won her match (3-0), and, as always, set a great example for her teammates, with her ever-present determination, focus, hustle, and good sportsmanship. Claudia Petrie ‘19 put up a great fight, cinching a 3-2 victory in an incredibly close and intense tie-breaker fifth game (12-10). IzzyBerckermeyer ‘21 brought the intensity, running down every ball and winning her match 3-1. Ely Alleyne ‘23 impressed everyone with her speed and determination to chase every ball down. After losing the first game, Jacqui Oulette ‘20 came back with a vengeance, winning the next three games 11-6, 11-1, and 11-6 to seal a 3-1 victory for KO.
Although only the top 7 players’ matches count towards the official match score, KO played a total of 10 matches, with our numbers 8, 9, and 10 (Holly Lombardi ‘18, Amrita Natarajan ‘22, and Amelia Levine ‘20 respectively) all winning their matches, bringing the overall match score to a resounding 8-2 victory.
