Squash – Girls Varsity vs Miss Porter’s School – Away
Varsity Girls Squash
The Wyverns displayed a combination of consistency and grit that allowed us to pull off a solid 7-0 win against a strong opponent.
Mai Lin Pomp-Shine ’20 had a back-and-forth, 5-game battle where she adjusted her strategy and applied weighted forehand drives to clench the win in the no. 7 spot, and Ely Alleyne ’23 came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in the no. 5 spot by sending unretrievable forehand cross courts into the corner of the court. Izzy Berckemeyer ’21, Sloan Duvall ’21, and Amrita Natarajan ’22 went on the attack and took their games 3-0 in the no. 2, 4, and 6 spots. Amelia Levine ’20 had a hard fought 3-0 win in the no. 3 spot, holding on in 2 extra-point games and controlling the pace of the ball in each point. Sydney Smith ’21 was thinking several shots ahead and used excellent court movement to take hold of the match and win 3-0 in the no. 1 spot. We look forward to a big match against Berkshire on 2/12!
