Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Berkshire School – Away
Boys Varsity Tennis
KO traveled to Berkshire for a later than usual Wednesday match due to AP exams. Our matches vs. Berkshire over the past few years have been very close and this year promised to be yet another tight match. The absence of Berkshire’s #3 player certainly played a role in the final score (6-1), as it very well may have come down to the final point otherwise. We eked out the doubles point with wins at #1 (Blair and Concepcion) and #2 (Maclean and Reddy), as the # 2 match was back and forth with KO winning 9-7. Berkshire won at #3 doubles over the combo of Gaddipati and L. Barash. We were able to get our 2nd and 3rd team points with straight sets wins at 1 and 2 singles (Concepcion and Blair respectively). At 3rd singles, Will Maclean played well en route to a win that took nearly two hours. Neil Reddy and Jacob Barash won at #4 and 6 respectively, while Berkshire’s #5 stages an impressive comeback winning clutch points to win a 3rd set supertiebreaker 12-10. It was good to see two teams compete hard and with good sportsmanship. Next up is our league tournament on Saturday, followed by a final regular season match against a veteran, talented Salisbury squad.
