Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Greenwich Country Day School – Away

V Boys Tennis

On Wednesday afternoon, we took the long trip down to Greenwich to play Greenwich Country Day School.

We played well against a young team from the newly formed GCDS high school, who will become a formidable team in the years to come. We played a 4 singles, 3 doubles format with no repeating, which is a format we never play. The boys were up to the challenge as we went 10 players deep.  Senior Jacob Schwartz set the pace at #1 singles with his best match yet, winning 6-0, 6-0 and making very few errors. Junior Koby Braunstein at #2 won 6-4, 7-5 against a talented freshman, and senior Ethan Raisner at #3 also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Junior Sean Gilland competed hard but came up short 6-7, 3-6 at #4 singles. We swept the doubles as Jaden Weinstein teamed up with 7th grader Pratt Blair to win 6-3, 6-0. Senior Wil Elliott and 7th grader Ciaran Concepcion cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win, and at #3 doubles sophomore Will Jacobs and junior Shumayl Shiek-Syed earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Lastly, in an exciting exhibition match (#4 doubles), junior Cevi Concepcion and senior Ethan Raisner came back to win 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 as Cevi hit some great shots down the stretch to pull out the tiebreaker. It was a long match, and we did not return to KO until 8:55 pm! The boys did a great job and the season record now stands at 4-4 going into our final match.
