Varsity Boys Track & Field

On Wednesday April 18th, the KO Boys’ Track and Field team hosted the American School for the Deaf at Conard High School’s track, scoring 112 points to earn a victory. 

Beginning the day, the Wyverns took first (Stacey Beasley), second (Ellis Winfree), third (Winston Ware), and fourth (Steve Howard) in the Shot Put as well as first (Kyren Petteway) and second (Winston Ware) in the long jump.  The 4 x 100 relay  won their event, and KO also performed well in the 400 Meters as Coltrane Joseph, Trey Taylor, and Will Beerbower took the top three spots. In the Discus, Ellis notched his first win while Stacey Beasley earned second with a personal best throw. KO’s sprinters fared well in the 100 Meters as Broox Bolden won the event and Jeff Davis placed second.  In the 800 Meters, Varun Tankala, Matt Bzowyckyj, and Ethan Pinkes earned the top three finishes.

In the High Jump, the Wyverns relied on Kian Issari to take first place, and in the 300 intermediate Hurdles, Ellis Winfree took first place.  In the 200 Meters, the Wyverns sprinters were strong again as Broox Bolden, Jeff Davis and Kyren Petteway took first, second, and third.  Winning his second event, Kian Issari threw 107’2.” In the triple jump, Kian Issari returned to win with a personal best of 33’8.5” while Jamie Amell placed second.  In the final event, the 4 x 400 relay, KO closed out the meet with a win.
Altogether, the Wyverns came prepared, supported one another throughout the day, and performed well in sprints, relays, jumps, hurdles, and throws.  As a final note, many team members tried new events and found continued success and improvement such as Vishal Kumar, Walter Kraus, and Brandon DeLucia who earned season bests in long jump.
