Varsity Boys Track & Field

Opening their season on Saturday 7 April, the KO Boys’ Track and Field team scored 79 points to earn victories over host Wilbraham & Monson (41) and Pomfret (28).

Beginning the day, the Wyverns took first (Keegan Toland), second (Stacey Beasley), third (Ellis Winfree), and fourth (Steve Howard) in the Shot Put.  The 4 x 100 relay of Jaden Lovelace, Winston Ware, Broox Bolden, and Jeff Davis won their event, and KO also performed well in the 400 Meters as Coltrane Joseph, Broox Bolden, and Trey Taylor took the top three spots.  In the Long Jump, the Wyverns scored with Ware’s fourth place and Kyren Petteway’s fifth place.  In the Discus, Keegan Toland notched his second win of the day, followed by Ellis Winfree, Steve Howard, and Stacey Beasley in second, third, and fourth place.  KO’s sprinters fared well in the 100 Meters as Jeff Davis won the event and Kyren Petteway placed second.  In the 800 Meters, Varun Tankala finished in second while newcomer Matt Bzowyckyj took fifth place.

In the High Jump, the Wyverns relied on Kian Issari to take fifth place, and in the 300 intermediate Hurdles, Ellis Winfree took first place.  In the 200 Meters, the Wyverns sprinters were strong again as Jeff Davis and Kyren Petteway took first and second.  Winning his third event, Keegan Toland threw 145′ 8″ notching a lifetime best.  In the triple jump, Varun Tankala took first and Jamie Amell placed second.  In the final event, the 4 x 400 relay, KO closed out the meet with a win from quartet of Will Beerbower, Varun Tankala, Coltrane Joseph, and Trey Taylor.
 
Despite the cool weather, the Wyverns showed good form as they performed well in sprints, relays, jumps, hurdles, and throws.  Benefitting from newcomers Kyren Petteway and Stacey Beasley, KO also saw impressive performances from Jeff Davis, Ellis Winfree, Coltrane Joseph and Keegan Toland, who led the team with three individual wins.
