V Volleyball
The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a strong showing against Faith Christian Academy at home, bringing our winning streak to 5-0 to open the season!
The first set showed that the Wyverns were ready to go into full offensive mode. Lola Peck β26 was firing hits down the middle, and Quin Kearney β23 had some devastatingly angled hits from the right side. Co-captain Keira Sullivan β23 was in it to win it with precisely placed hits from the outside. In the back row, Allie Arcaro β24 made some key digs and pulled off some beautiful sets when the team was briefly out of system. All of these combined offensive forces allowed KO to take the set 25-11.
The second set started with a fantastic 7 point service run from our lead-off server Ava Cashman β24. On the right side, Eve Repp β23 had some down-the-line, ungettable smashes, and Jhanvi Daddala β23 made sure that FCAβs offense wouldnβt be making it through the middle, covering the court consistently and throwing up some key blocks. Jill Plaut β23 used wonderful variety in her setting to keep the opponent guessing. Jillian Alexander β24 served her trademark low and quick serves and backed them up with deep hitting in the middle. The Wyverns kept charging ahead and won the set 25-9.
The third set saw FCA roaring back with a response, but the Wyverns were ready and waiting. Lila Klinzmann β27 had a show-stopping 8 point service run in the middle of the game, choosing her spots wisely and following through, that put us in a winning lead. Daddala continued to make clever net decisions in the middle, and Alex Segal β24 was pulverizing the ball in her hits from the outside. Cici Freeman β24 was the example to follow with her first passes on serve receive that set up our electrified offense. It was a battle, but the Wyverns took the set 25-17 to win the match 3-0!
