Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Ethel Walker School – Away
The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a strong showing against Ethel Walker with a 3-0 win that each member of the team had a part in earning. The Wyverns leapt into a commanding lead in the first set when Alex Segal ‘25 took charge at the service line and launched several low and challenging serves in a row. KO’s offense got going quickly, with co-captains Ava Cashman ‘24 and Jillian Alexander ‘24 firing the ball from the outside and right side, respectively, in a relentless push for more points. Co-captain Allie Arcaro ‘24 calmly neutralized the opponent’s serves and consistently set up offensive plays with high and accurate passes, and Cici Freeman ‘24 had composed and timely passing in the back row. In the second set, Alexis Nisyrios ‘27 was ready to go for it with her well-struck hits and tips from the middle, while Francesca Lamattina ‘25 put the pressure on the opponent from the right side with killer spinning down-balls. On the service line, Olivia Doran ‘26 was crushing the ball across the net and immediately getting ready for some skilled passing in the back row. Ethel Walker fought back and took the lead late in set, but then Lila Klinzmann ‘27 stepped up to the service line. In a show of great confidence and discipline, Klinzmann served masterfully through the end of the set, allowing the Wyverns to secure 8 points in a row! In the third and final set, the tag team of Lola Peck ‘26 and Chloe Delaire ‘27 came alive in the middle, sending the ball to all parts of the opponent’s court and allowing KO to march into a sizable lead. On the right side in the back row, Olivia Raccio ‘28 was a model of precise passing and measured defensive coverage. KO was proud to have every team member contribute to this win in their own way! We look forward to playing Suffield for our next match (at home) on 9/30!
