Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Hopkins School – Away

Varsity Volleyball

KOVVB opened our season with a competitive match against a solid Hopkins team.

Evenly matched with serving and hitting, KO and Hopkins had many hard fought points and great rallies.  Although the momentum of each game moved back and forth between the two teams in terms of scoring runs, KO was consistently trying to close a three or four point deficit as Hopkins finished out each game with a run of points.  In her first full varsity match as setter, Emma Henry did a great job, particularly with her 3 diving saves on defense. Kathryn Westrick and Madi Henry led the team with blocking as they shut down Hopkins’ outside hitters on numerous occasions.  Isa Raymond took on the position of Libero with confidence and determination as she anchored KO’s serve receive and defensive passing. Sydney Smith had a great match overall as she led our offense with many outstanding kills, solid defense, and tough serving.  In her first varsity match, third former Lindsey Bailey did a great job on the service line with a 4 point run in game 2 of the match. KO showed incredible competitive spirit and positive energy throughout the entire match, which bodes well for the coming season.  We take on Wilbraham and Monson in Hewett Gym this Saturday at 2:00.
