Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Marianapolis Preparatory School – Away

Varsity Volleyball

KO Girls’ VB traveled to Marianapolis on Wednesday afternoon and earned another win (25-15, 25-18, 29-27).

Audrey Decker ’20 and Trinity Hudson ’20 were forces to be reckoned with in the middle hitter position, shutting down numerous Marianapolis attacks with effective blocking. These blocks always came at opportune times, swinging the momentum in KO’s favor.  On the service line, Hudson, co-captains Kathryn Westrick ’20 and Sydney Smith’ 21, and Iibero Mackenzie Caruso, ’22, performed well, earning 4 or more points. Passing was consistently strong, which enabled KO to remain in the lead once they took it during the first two sets. It was the third set that proved exciting, as Marianapolis came alive on the service line aided by an energetic home crowd. The lead changed many times. As serving came alive for Marianapolis, serve receive passing unraveled a bit for KO. KO was down 14-18 before they were able to catch up, due to great serving from Bella Leuschner ’20 who tied it up at 18-18. Will and determination then took over, as the score was tied repeatedly up to 27-27. KO won the serve, and once again Leuschner was on the line at 28-27 to win the final point. KO’s record is now 5-1 and the will face King on Saturday at home at 4:00 p.m.
