Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Pomfret School – Away

The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a strong outing against Pomfret during a day of many competitions between the two schools. The Wyverns started off the first set with effective serving from the very beginning, with Alex Segal ‘25 making an early service run to put KO in the lead. KO’s offense took advantage of smooth setting from Lila Klinzmann ‘27 to fire repeated deep hits with co-captain Ava Cashman ‘24 on the outside. Co-captain Allie Arcaro ‘24 helped the team settle into consistent serve receive, and co-captain Jillian Alexander ‘24 went after every set to the right side with forceful strikes. The Wyverns held the lead and took the first set, ready to keep moving forward. In the second set, despite excellent defense from Cici Freeman ‘24 on the outside and Francesca Lamattina ‘25 on the right side in the back row, Pomfret took its offense to another level and won the set after a spectacular comeback from the Wyverns. In the third set, KO got back to business and Klinzmann was perfectly setting unanswered swings from Chloe Delair ‘27 in the middle. When Lola Peck ‘26 got to the front row in the middle, she made every ball at the net into an aggressive move, and secured several kills for the team. The Wyverns roared back and took the set to go up 2-1. In the fourth and final set, the Wyvern serving machine was in full gear, and the team took an early lead that they kept until the end. It was a full team effort to cover every part of the court and ensure that the pressure was on the opponent. The Wyverns took the set and won the game 3-1, a big win for the KO vs. Pomfret school-wide competition that day.
