Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Taft School – Home
The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a hard fought game against Taft to start the season, with the Wyverns unfortunately losing 3-0 in very close sets (25-22, 25-21, 26-24).
But the Wyverns showed up with great energy to start the season, and developed some fantastic plays to make each set neck-and-neck. Co-captain Jillian Alexander ‘24 had a roaring debut hitting on the right side, exchanging deep, angled attacks and clever tips with the opponent. Alex Segal ‘25 started the team off with excellently struck serves, high passes, and her first kill on the outside in the front row (a very impressive swing). Leading the charge on the Wyvern offense were co-captain Ava Cashman ‘24 on the outside, propelling the ball above and between blocks, and Chloe Delaire ‘27, who took advantage of precise sets from Lila Klinzmann ‘27 to put the ball away at untouchable angles. Klinzmann had great coverage of the court, and was aided by timely digs and helpful bump sets from co-captain Allie Arcaro ‘24. Senior Cici Freeman ‘24 was a steady back row passer who helped us start off on the right foot, and freshman Alexis Nisyrios ‘27 put fear in the eyes of the opponent with her incredible serves in the later sets of the game. Lola Peck ‘26’s consistent serving in the middle of the game gave the team some clutch points to keep battling into the second and third sets. There’s a lot for the team to be proud of, especially given their persistence in the third set, which went into extra points. We look forward to getting into our next match right away, when we play Greens Farms Academy on 9/14!
