Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Worcester Academy – Away
The Girl’s Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Worcester Academy on Wednesday and lost 1-3 ( 21-25, 14- 25, 25 – 15, 19-25).
The first set was close, as KO got out to an early lead 10-6. The lead changed hands many times. KO’s offense was led by kills from co-captain Sydney Smith ’21. The second set was all Worcester as their offense came alive, and KO didn’t have an effective answer defensively. In the third set, KO showed up. Strong serving from Bella Leuschner ’20, put KO in the early lead, 8-2. She was followed by Smith, who remained on the line to take KO to 14-3. Mackenzie Caruso ‘ 23 passed well in the libero position, allowing co-captain Kathryn Westrick ’20 to set our offense to hit in both the front and back rows. After winning the third set, energy was high, and KO was determined to play 5 sets. Unfortunately, Worcester’s serving came alive in set 4, and KO had trouble passing in serve receive. The final set was close as KO fought to chip away at Worcester’s lead. A few serving and hitting errors for KO combined with Worcester’s well-placed attacks closed the match before KO could catch up.
KO is now 7-3 and will face Kent on Hewett Day.
