Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Worcester Academy – Home
Varsity Volleyball
Determined to find victory at home after our close loss to Pomfret last Saturday, KOVB came out full force against Worcester Academy this past Wednesday.
The team was energized and intense from the first serve of the match and didn’t let up until the final whistle. Set one went easily to KO as strong serving and targeted offense opened up a quick lead that we maintained for the rest of the set. Isa Raymond was on fire on the service line to open the match with a string of aces. Set 2 and 3 were both much closer as Worcester pushed a modest lead at the beginning of each, forcing KO to work hard to close the gap before pulling ahead for the win. Middle Hitter Bella Leuschner was a strong presence at the net with a beautiful block in set 1. Middle Hitter Kathryn Westrick, Right Side Hitter Madi Henry, and Outside Hitter Sydney Smith anchored KO’s offense with frequent kills as they found holes in Worcester’s defense. Such effective offense was only possible with the solid setting and vocal presence of Setter Isa Raymond throughout the match. KOVB looks to keep its momentum going as we travel to Rye NY on Saturday to take on the School of the Holy Child for the first time.
