Field Hockey Clinic Draws Large Youth Crowd

This has been a longstanding event for over 10 years, and each fall is well received by both players and coaches alike. Head Varsity Coach Nikki Blake and Middle School Coach Meredith Crowther have been the backbone for planning and execution, and each year it draws a large crowd. This year was no exception.

The turnout was tremendous, the West Hartford Youth Field Hockey league had five of their teams attend, one 7th/8th grade team, two 5th/6th grade teams, and two 3rd/4th grade teams. Current Wyverns players, from both Varsity and JV teams, ran drills and helped the younger girls’ with skills and tips on gameplay and team captains shared their experiences as a student-athlete and what was unique and impactful about their KO journey.

Said Kingswood head coach Nikki Blake; “The clinic is always a great success. I don’t know who it benefits more, the youth players or our KO players! They are all there to have fun while sharing a love for the same sport with great friends and coaches.”

Visiting players were personally invited by the field hockey team to attend their game under the lights coming up November 8 at 5:00 pm on the turf at Kingswood Oxford.
