Seniors Recognized as Commended Merit Scholars

Seven Kingswood Oxford School seniors were recently recognized as merit scholars for their exceptional performance and scores on the PSAT/NMSQT test taken last year. Head of the Upper School Dr. Dan Gleason presented the awards to the students at an assembly on Tuesday, October 18. β€œThis award encapsulates the core values that these scholars approach their schooling – learning with passion and perseverance, raising intellectual curiosity, and working hard and taking risks,” Gleason said.

The recipients are Mckenzie Campbell β€˜23, Kyra Dunnirvine β€˜23, Maggie Dwyer β€˜23, Johnny Kung β€˜23, Aidan Ladewig β€˜23, Manu Narasimhan β€˜23, and Raj Patel β€˜23. The National Merit Scholarship program is a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Seniors entered this competition in October of last year by taking the preliminary SAT/national merit scholarship qualifying test (PSAT/NMSQT). Recently the National Merit Scholarship Corporation identified 50,000 students with the highest scores on the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT and has now announced the names of 34,000 of these students who have been named commended students based on a selection index that is set on a national level.

Congratulations to all of the students who were recognized for this incredible honor!
