Soft Words, Hard Arguments Win Debates

KO’s Forensic Union team competed in the first-weekend tournament of the year, a Parliamentary Extemporaneous Debate competition at the Roxbury Latin School. We took two teams: 1) Braden Flowers ’21 and Braeden Rose ’21 and 2) Christina Lu ’21 and Risha Ranjan ’21. Both teams competed in three debate rounds, and both teams won two out of their three debates! Braeden Rose particularly impressed judges with his speaking skills and won an award for the tournament’s Second Place Novice Speaker.

Heather Wayne, the Forensic Union advisor said, “I couldn’t be prouder of Braeden, Braden, Christina, and Risha. They went into this weekend’s debate with great enthusiasm and a strong desire to grow as public speakers. The judges praised them for their effective delivery, excellent organization, incisive analysis, and convincing rebuttals of their opponents’ arguments. We were so excited to learn that Braeden earned the honor of Second Place Novice Speaker. As Forensic Union officers, they represented our team with passion, intelligence, and style!”
