Field Hockey Hits The Ground Running With A 2-0 Record

In the season home opener on September 11, the Wyverns posted a dominating 6-0 win against Miss Porters. Despite a warm day for play, the Wyverns came out of the gate focused and ready to play. KO dominated the first half with multiple shots on goal and, despite the heat of the day, didn’t let up the entire 70 minutes. Isabelle Burke ‘21 scored only 10 minutes into the game, Cici Chagnon ‘21 recorded a hat trick, and Alyssa Pavano ‘22 finished the scoring with the fifth goal. A skilled goalie, Caitlin Budzik ‘21 was determined not to let anything get past her, and true to her efforts, she ended the game with a shutout.

In the team’s second game against Canterbury despite a brief, rocky start, the team shook it off and outhustled, outsmarted, and outsprinted their competition. Tori Swanson ’21 and Izzy Burke ‘21 tallied goals. The Wyverns finished the game 2-1, proving a true team effort.

Coach Nicole Blake recognized, in particular, her team’s intensity and speed this season. “This is by far my most skilled, most aggressive and fastest team I have had in the seven years I have been at KO,” said Blake. “Their no quit, never give up attitude is going to bring them very far this season. I can’t wait to see where this team takes us!”
