MERRITT A. Hewett Gymnasium

 

In memory of former Head of Kingswood Oxford School; Merritt A. Hewett, this gym is the mecca for our varsity basketball and volleyball teams. There are not many better atmospheres in the NEPSAC than a night game in Hewett. The Merritt A. Hewett gymnasium is equipped with an automatic Hudl camera to record and live stream practices and games, giving players the tools to refine their skills and elevate their performance.

JAMES T. SOBY ’23 GYMNASIUM

 

Soby Gym is our oldest athletic facility on campus, built in 1928. Featuring classic hardwood floors, exposed wood beams, and original architectural details, the space reflects decades of student competition, community gatherings, and school pride. This gym was a generous donation from Charles Soby and her son James Soby ’23. It currently serves as our auxiliary gym as a versatile, multi-purpose athletic space that supports daily practices and competition offering a rustic, energetic and welcoming environment for student-athletes and supporters. 

Hoffman Field House

 

The Field House was renovated in the mid-2010’s thanks to the generosity of many KO donors including former board chair Bradley Hoffman ’78. Our state-of-the-art Multi-Purpose Fieldhouse is designed to inspire athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and community members of Kingswood Oxford. The expansive facility features three full-size basketball courts, four full-size indoor tennis courts and an indoor track. Designed with competition-quality surfaces, professional lighting, and ample spectator viewing areas, this space provides an exceptional experience to all.

HOFFMAN TURF FIELD

 

Hoffman Turf Field is home to our Wyvern football, field hockey and lacrosse teams. A premier, multi-purpose athletic venue designed to support high-performance training, competitive play, and year-round programming. Featuring a state-of-the-art synthetic turf surface, the field delivers exceptional durability, safety, and consistency in all weather conditions, ensuring optimal performance for athletes across every season

MANDELL BASEBALL FIELD

 

Mandell Baseball Field thanks to the generosity of the Mandell Family, is the home of our 2025 Founders League Champions. With a meticulously groomed infield, lush outfield grass, newly built dugouts and professional-quality playing surfaces, the field provides an exceptional experience for our baseball players in practice and in games.

OUTLOOK FIELD

 

Home to our Wyvern Boys’ and Girls’ soccer team. Our campus soccer field offers a premier grass surface set against one of the most vibrant backdrops in the area. Located just steps from Blue Back Square in the heart of West Hartford, the field combines top-tier athletic amenities with a beautiful downtown setting, creating a unique and energetic atmosphere for players and spectators alike.

LORRAINE WALKER Softball FIELD

 

 

Named after Lorraine Walker Bardsley, class of ’34, this softball field sits adjacent to our Turf Football Field just off of Kingswood Road and is home to the 2024 and 2025 NEPSAC Champions. Featuring a durable synthetic turf field, and precision-built dimensions, the field delivers consistent playability and performance throughout the season, regardless of weather conditions.

RUSCONI Fitness center

 

The Rusconi Fitness Center serves as the cornerstone of health and wellness within our athletic complex, offering a modern training environment equipped with the latest strength and conditioning technology. Gifted by Peter Rusconi P ’14 & ’18. This center was designed to accommodate our student-athletes, fitness enthusiasts, Kingswood Oxford staff and community members. The facility features expansive free-weight and functional training areas, multiple squat racks and bench press stations, cable systems, selectorized strength machines, and a comprehensive range of cardio equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and rowers.

WOLFF FAMILY FITNESS STudio

 

A space given by the Wolff Family: Kris and Keith Wolff ’91. The Wolff Family Fitness studio is a bright, thoughtfully designed space. Featuring a full mirror wall, the studio provides an ideal environment for stretching, core work, mobility training, and restorative practices. Whether used for guided classes or independent training, the fitness studio offers a welcoming, flexible environment that promotes balance, health, and overall well-being.

VARSITY weight room

 

The varsity weight room is a high-performance training facility designed to meet the demands of competitive student-athletes. Equipped with four squat racks, six bench press stations, and a comprehensive range of free weights, the space supports serious strength development and structured team training.

Wyvern Squash CLub

 

The newly renovated Wyvern Squash Club was made possible through the generosity of Kingswood Oxford Families; Gil Keegan ’88 P ’22, ’25, ’27, Mark Conrad ’96 P ’32, Beverly Baker (in honor of Shep Baker ’47) and the Cocscarelli Family. The Wyvern Squash Club, conveniently located at Kingswood Oxford’s satellite athletic facility at 18 Highland Street, West Hartford, is the only public squash facility in West Hartford. Our Squash club includes eight international standard courts certified by the World Squash Federation, including an all-glass exhibition court.

Outdoor tennis courts

 

Our outdoor tennis courts features three full-size courts that are designed with versatility in mind, allowing them to be easily converted for pickleball play. This dual-use capability enhances programming options for our student-athletes and Kingswood Oxford community supporting both traditional tennis instruction and the fast-growing sport of pickleball.
